Kenan Bresnan has been a resident of Indianola for 20 years. His wife
of 38 years is Rita Bresnan, a music teacher at Ingalls-Wilder Elementary, Indianola.
Together they have raised their four children in the Indianola Community.
Children:
• Erin – Is working for a non-profit agency in Vancouver, British Columbia.
• Mark – Is a professor of English Literature at St. Olaf College, Minnesota.
• Shaela – Is K-12 art teacher currently serving as a Lieutenant in
Afghanistan with her reserve unit, RSG 649th.

Accomplishments as a School Board Member:
• The purchase of the 40 acres behind the middle school that
became the community athletic facsimiles.
• The attachment of the Street Gym to the Middle School Complex.
Being Involved With:
• The passing of the bond issue and the construction of the new
middle school as well as the additions to Emerson and Whittier.
• The passing of the bond issue and the remodeling of the high
school.
• The passing of the bond issue and the building of the
Ingalls-Wilder elementary building.
• The development and the implementation of the programs
necessary for the transfer to a K-5, 6-8, 9-12 school
arrangement
• Because of the timing of my spilt terms of service on the
school board, I was involved with the setting up of the initial
study committee for education and then during my last two terms
I had the
opportunity
to vote for its expansion.
• During my final year on the school board, I made a presentation at the
Iowa School Board Association's convention on "How to Enjoy
Being
a Board Member While Doing an Excellent Job."
